This exercise is a great hamstring and glute developer. It also helps with balance and core stability. Being able to pick something up off the floor with one hand and one leg, without back pain or throwing out your back, is extremely valuable. Just think of how often you do things like this. We don't normally think about perfect form when we are picking up a pan off the floor. We are not doing a 2 foot squat. There's more awkwardness and very ability with normal day-to-day life.
